History

JA Moody Company originated in the 1950’s as a fluid power distributor selling fittings, hoses and couplings. In the 1970’s, new owners added military spec valves and began selling to the US Navy. As the company grew, the fluid power business was sold off and the company focused on Navy valve assemblies. In 2003, a service group was established in Florida and Virginia to meet customer needs for actuator and valve repairs. Recently the company has expanded valve product offerings to meet the needs of the Commercial Marine Market. Today, JA Moody focuses exclusively on the Marine Industry and sells fluid control products nationwide. JA Moody is the exclusive distributor for Tyco (now Pentair) and Nu-Torque products in the marine industry. JA Moody is also the marine national distributor for Farris Pressure Relief valves, a business unit of Curtis-Wright Flow Control Co. JA Moody has offices in Florida, Alabama, Virginia, California and Pennsylvania.

Control of Counterfeit Items

JA Moody is committed to the eradication of counterfeit components within the supply chain. JA Moody utilizes the following definition when discussing counterfeit components:
Counterfeit components are defined as a product produced or altered to resemble a product without authority or right to do so, with the intent to mislead or defraud by presenting the imitation as original or genuine. Counterfeit components also include parts that have been re-marked or previously used.

JA Moody employs the following measures to both detect and eliminate counterfeit components within our supply chain:

  • Authorized Distribution Relationships to ensure traceability of those components
  • Standardized Vendor Qualification & Rating System
  • Counterfeit Awareness Training for all employees
  • Inbound shipments are received, photographed when required, and quality inspected
  • JA Moody subscribes and contributes to several industry forums/groups where real-time counterfeit information at the component level is discussed
  • Third-Party independent component testing and verification
